Terms of Service

Welcome to Unrue. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Unrue mobile application and unrue.co (together, the "Service"), operated by the Unrue team ("Unrue," "we," "us," "our").

By creating an account or using Unrue, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Unrue. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we will terminate it.

2. Your Account

• You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
• One account per person. Impersonating another person, or creating accounts to evade a ban, is not allowed.
• You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

3. The Service

Unrue sends users a daily quest — the same one, worldwide, each day. Completing a quest requires submitting photo proof ("a drop"). Completing your own daily quest unlocks your ability to view other users' drops in the social feed for that day.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service (including specific features, the daily quest mechanic, or premium tiers) at any time, with or without notice. We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Service without liability.

We do not guarantee the Service will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or error-free.

4. User Content

4.1 What you own

You retain ownership of the photos, reflections, and other content you submit ("User Content"). We don't claim ownership over what you create.

4.2 The license you grant us

By submitting User Content, you grant Unrue a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the Service (e.g., showing your drop to other users in the social feed) for as long as your account or that content remains active. This license ends when you delete the specific content or your account, except for content that has already been shown to other users as part of normal use of the social feed, which may persist in de-identified form (see our Privacy Policy).

4.3 What you can't post

You agree not to submit content that:

• Is illegal, harassing, hateful, or threatening
• Depicts or promotes violence, self-harm, or exploitation of minors
• Infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights
• Impersonates another person or entity
• Contains spam, malware, or unauthorized advertising
• Is sexually explicit

We may remove any content, and suspend or terminate any account, that violates these rules — with or without notice, at our discretion.

4.4 Reporting

Users can report content or accounts that violate these Terms. We review reports and take action as we determine appropriate, including content removal, warnings, suspension, or termination. We are not obligated to take any specific action in response to a report.

5. Location and Camera Access

Certain quests require access to your device's location and/or camera to function. By enabling these permissions, you consent to Unrue collecting and using that data as described in our Privacy Policy. You can decline these permissions, but doing so may prevent you from completing certain quests.

6. Future Paid Features

Unrue is currently free to use. We may in the future offer an optional paid subscription tier ("Inner Circle") with additional features. If and when we do, billing terms, cancellation, and refund policies will be presented to you at the time of purchase and incorporated into these Terms. Continuing to use the Service after such features launch, or subscribing to them, constitutes acceptance of those additional terms.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including through automated bots, scraping, or exploits
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent the daily quest mechanic (e.g., falsifying location, submitting non-authentic photos) in a way intended to deceive other users
• Use another user's account without permission
• Harass, bully, or target other users

Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, at our discretion.

8. Intellectual Property

The Unrue name, logo, app design, quest content, and all associated branding are the property of Unrue and its creators. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, branding, or proprietary content outside of normal use of the Service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, including violation of these Terms, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

Quests may involve real-world activity, including physical movement and travel to specific locations. You are solely responsible for your own safety while completing any quest. Use good judgment — do not enter unsafe locations, trespass, break the law, or take physical risks to complete a quest. Unrue is not responsible for any injury, loss, or harm arising from your participation in a quest.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNRUE AND ITS CREATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) $50 USD.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unrue and its creators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or other reasonable means before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. This is a placeholder based on Josh's current location and should be revisited once Unrue's entity structure is finalized.
